Formo — Identity
Will cheese ever be sustainable?
Yes, if you make the future of dairy deliciously high tech.
Shared impact
Record breaking Series A.Attracted world's best scientists.
Future cheese into 150 stores!
they milk microbes, instead of cows.
We partnered with their founding team to bring the best of European cheese culture to a global audience, giving the company the creative tools to grow into a courageous leader of the alt-dairy industry.
Bringing the future of food to life:
science, cheese, and conversation.
Formo’s precision, microbe-crafted cheeses represent a new chapter in how we think, make, and enjoy food.
But… people aren’t yet used to the idea of science and food mixing, so our strategy was to make it feel natural, aspirational, and irresistible.
We set a north-star of “bringing the future of food to life through science, cheese, and conversation.”
It’s a mission which encourages innovation, inclusivity, and provides a much-needed platform for discussion around one of the most vital behaviour shifts of our time.
Brand new ancient name.
Deeply Roman origin story.
Formo’s former name (Legendairy Foods) couldn’t support the brand’s global ambition and progressive positioning, so we distilled the mission and values into five simple letters.
We sought inspiration in the history books and unearthed ancient Rome’s first ever cheese innovation programme.
To help their cheese travel to the far-flung reaches of the empire, they invented the world’s first hard cheese: ‘formaticum’.
We created the name Formo, the latin for ‘I mould, I form’, to represent the journey of taking pioneering cheeses to new frontiers.

The creative direction combines millenia-old cheesemaking history with Berlin biotech culture.
The logo can be chiselled by a roman mason, but also feels like software; the patterns are from stippled wheels of Parmigiano; and the typeface is inspired by Moog synthesizers.
In 2021, Formo was launched: the brand coming alive through the website, films, photography, communications, and spaces we created together.
The team moved into their new home on the banks of the Spree, a 3-metre-high logo boldly signalling the start of a new chapter in our relationship with dairy.
“ Working with forpeople was a blast: not only was their work infused with deep understanding of where we’re from, but they also brought a unique ability to help us refine our shared mission and narrative, capturing its essence perfectly.
•
forpeople are true thought leaders themselves
— ahead of their time — which is why the Formo team connected so well with them ”
Our collaboration with Formo helped them to redefine what was expected from a food science company — shaping the social conversation of the future by making the visionary feel inevitable and indulgent.
